New Meilland International rose variety bags 2013 All-American Rose Selections

Developed by the Meilland International, the Francis Meilland rose is the newly awarded winner of the 2013 All-American Rose Selections. The 2013 selection broke new ground since it is the first time the prize was won by a hybrid tea rose with no-spray conditions. This rose is a new type of rose-it has quite a large bloom, it is tall, possesses a strong scent, and exhibits well. This rose was introduced by Conard-Pyle.

The winning rose is named after the namesake of Meilland International, Francis Meilland, and named to honor the 100 year anniversary of his birth. Conard-Pyle is no stranger to winning awards at the All-American Rose Selections; it also won the top award last year with its rose Sunshine Daydream.

All winners of the All-American Rose Selections winners are selected from a two-year test cycle held at ten gardens throughout the US. Contestants are evaluated based on their ability to resist disease, volume of flower production, scent, and other criteria. The Francis Meilland rose will be available in the general flower market come the spring of 2013.
