Wake your spring lawns up with bulbs

Sure, your lawn looks mighty tired at this time of the year. It is to be expected since the winter is around the corner, after all. Still, if you want your lawn to come alive in a riot of spring color, October is no better time to get ready for spring.

You can tranform your standard lawn into a nice welcome mat for spring by planting bulbs now. Make sure you pick the right bulbs though-they have to be spring-flowering varieties. Talk about a great way for your lawn to welcome the spring and a new gardening year.

Here is how you do it:
Pick out where you want your bulbs to appear. The best would be in an unobtrusive place. You may want to have the flowers accent a location. The best would be to plant around the house so they accent your house while at the same time not getting in the way. Plant by either scattering bulbs over your lawn or peeling back the lawn and putting the bulbs underneath. The best approach depends on your lawn's health and the amount of labor you can put into the project. Once you plant, make sure to water consistently.
