Hibiscus Syriacus "Notwoodone" guide for May

This plant's blossom arrives around late summer and it is well worth the wait! This hibiscus unfurls beautiful large single flowers that are resplendent in bold lavender. This plant looks really good if planted in a mixed container or arranged as a border or presented as a specimen. You can even prune it into a little tree. Very adaptable and resistant to deer predation, this hibiscus is very easy to grow.

Guide for May cultivation

By May, it is still not too late to buy a lavender Chiffon Hibiscus and add it to your garden. Just make sure you properly inspect the plant by taking it out of its pot and looking at its roots. The roots must not have mushy black sections and should fill the pot well. The more roots the plant has, the better.

Plant the hibiscus in a sunny well-drained location. Use slow-release fertilizer and water in the fertilizer well. Add 1 inch of water every week during the plant's first season. Give it more moisture when it gets too hot or if there is a drought.

Don't prune the plant.
